My Cata Class

Hi everybody,
I need your help !
On BC, I played Destruction Warlock (for PvP), and I loved it.
On TLK, I didn't like Destruction Warlock, so I played fire mage. It was my best time playing WoW, I enjoyed it.
And now, I'll go to play on Cataclysm, and I would like to know if fire mages have the same gameplay as in TLK ? Can we PvP as in TLK ? Or do I have to chose Destruction Warlock ?

why not just reroll a different class? quite many are when a new expansion hits, just to try out everything as the gameplay changes alot ( give AM the AB effects again!)

You can also try out some classes on the PTR

Fire mage pvp havent changed much since WOTLK (btw it's getting a buff next patch, scorch while moving on all armors and more dmg from mastery).

Not that a fire mage usually stacks mastery since his dots can be so easily dispelled, but I have alot of mastery atm (because I'm geared for frost) and I gotta say it's awesome 8-12k combustion ticks is so rofl, to think this is getting buffed is just overkill :P

Fire is DEFINANTLY NOT like it used to be on wotlk.But it's still OP.Tho it's the only class that i see that doesn't get healed constantly .Ok you have evo and cauterize + Iceblock,but other classes get 3-10% hp for nothing every 1min or every time they attack.Wich can get rather annoying at times.Tho considering ferals and warriors are gonna get nerfed next patch (imo one of the harder classes to kill on fire for me) it's gonna be good.

Also,considering Cata is a melee heaven,destro might be abit harder than it was in wotlk.I see alot of affliction warlocks (since they can solo 3 people and not give a damn) and alot of demonology warlocks,but just a few destro.Especialy in arenas.

Still,play the class you like and if you have a warlock or fire mage at 80,finish lvling it to 85.Play the class you enjoy and it will be fine. :)

I don't want to have an other class (I tried a lot of different class). Fire mage and destruction warlock (not affliction or demonology xd) are the only one that I love.
If I take fire mage, my biggest worry is that I have to arena as a frost mage.
And if I take a destruction warlock, I don't want to arena as an affliction or a demonology warlock :/
So I think my last question is :
In Cata, is it better to do arenas with a fire mage or a destruction warlock ? :p

I'm doing arenas as fire now.Playing as fire/affliction comp.And i must say i enjoy the comp alot.
Dunno about destro warlock.Only fought a few and the fights were sort of easy
Tho i'm still low ranked.
You wont have to do arenas as frost,but you will have ALOT of problems finding a partner as fire since people want you to play frost spec and spam ice lances.Or maybe that's just my own personal experience.

I'm afraid about what you said, that's true that people don't often want to play with a fire mage if this fire mage can be a frost mage xD
But if destruction warlock is not very good in arenas...
I'm going to try lvling a fire mage, now :)

And don't worry.Fire might not shine so well alone anymore,as it did in wotlk against 1vX,but in arenas you can be devastating!

Oh yeah sorry my bad, I thought of the 4.0 patch as wotlk >.< But apart from blast wave knock effect removal and scorch while running it's very much the same.

You forgot to mention fiery payback and combustion. I wouldn't say that the gameplay is the same because if it was, I wouldn't be crying about how much I hate it atm compared to what it was before.
But anyway, I have to mention that destro warlocks are actually quite good atm. Glyph of Devour Magic, fel armor for 5% health regen and soul leech heal for quite a lot. I'm usually seeing destro locks HP going up instead of down at some points. And the fact that burst damage has been lowered quite a lot means they can survive for a lot longer then they could have before. Atleast thats from my experience. If there's a warlock that disagrees with me please correct me.

Mh, I see.. I tried fire mage, and there something that made me sad : I can't cast my pyro while running when Hot Streak procs.. It's an instant cast, but I have to stay in place... Is it a bug or is it normal ?

Mitz, I agree with you. Destro on WOTLK can survive longer than a destro on TBC, but I didn't see any good warlock playing destro on Cataclysm... Just some destro spamming Incinerate :p

I think I'll wait for a good fire mage movie, and after that I can chose what I want to play x)

The Hot Steak thing is a bug, I had it a few weeks ago and now it's gone, I think. No idea if I did something to make it go away.
