Adobe after effects (Help needed)
Hellow there,
i'm planning to make a pvp movie, but i'm new to it.
and new to all the programs i now can use after i got a new computer, as sony vegas and adobe after effects.
I've tried to make a logo (intro) in adobe after effects, but somehow i just can't get it to work. i have tried several youtube guides ect. ect.
So you got some good advice or something like it for how to make an intro rather easy, or other advices for making a pvp movie for your first time i would very much like to hear it.

I'm actually quite unexperienced myself at creating intro/logo clips, but I'm good at Photoshop, so I usually go the other way around: I create logo picture in PS, and then separately save each detail (layer) of it. Then I just need to animate it via some relatively simple effects and transitions to make it look good.

Sounds like something i can figure out better, you got an youtube guide, or step to step thingy? I got no problem making stuff in Photoshop, it's the animate part i got troubles with. Frustrating tbh >.<

Just a guess: many projects use Trapcode plugins for some effects, try installing it :)

A quick tip: don't lose your piece of mind to AE when you start making movies. It's pretty HC and you'll just miss out on the time you could use in sony vegad (which is way more rewarding and has a better learning curve).

Indeed. AE is for more...umm..Let's say professional work and i couldn't call wow pvp movies of any sort "professional".You can receive dazzling effects by just using simple programs (SV or PS).
Tho there's just something about AE that i always loved, and that's the only reason i use it.
For personal preferences - it's good.
For the learning curve and the utilization of the tool JUST for wow movies - it's a waste.
I'd say,if the tutorials i linked don't help, try using sony vegas. It can get the job done just fine and there should be a handful of tutorials on it on the internet. :)

some effects look alot better in AE though, like for example the optical flares, if you are going to do some Colour correction in the clips as well, i would suggest playing around with curves and hue saturation in AE abit. But yeah, edit the movie in after effects and look thrue the tutorials on videocopilot.net and see if any of those might help your project

Eryu's right here, most powerful plug-ins and effects are only available for AE. It doesn't mean you have to use it though - you can use it just to add some effects to certain scenes.

Re: Adobe after effects (Help needed)
Well like it was stated before.AE is for more of a professional use.Professional = better. But WHY would you need that for a wow movie?considering it would look sorta bad,if you add amazing effects and all,but the entire wow graphical engine would simply clash with it.I don't know.Unless you can just do the intro/outro with AE,but the entire rendering should be done in Vegas.
Vegas is simpler to use and you can get amazing results.Hell...Bebep the ultimate is a nice example :)
I just wish there was a similar variety of good programs that could be used to substitue PS3.Painter isn't as good as i excpected it to be....

Re: Adobe after effects (Help needed)
also as bebep said, you do not need to use it. What you use the program for is totally up to you eitherway, im usually making machinema clips in AE with a comp for each clip, then put all the comps into a new comp and render from there, this way i can do all the editing in vegas, all the colour correction, effects and all the good stuff is however done in AE. i can't say im an experienced AE user, but just knowing the basics which can easily be learned on videocopilot help a whole lot.
then again lets face it AE is'nt a simple editing its for vfx
